Academics Without Borders (AWB) is a Canadian bilingual nonprofit organization based in Montreal. Our mission is to support academic institutions in developing countries in building capacity in higher education so that they can train their own experts and conduct research to assist in their development. AWB sends volunteers on projects that originate in and are owned by developing world institutions. AWB reimburses volunteers for their expenses but does not offer them a salary.

University of Saint Joseph Mbarara
The University of Saint Joseph Mbarara is a new private not-for-profit university, owned by the Catholic Archdiocese of Mbarara. It was licensed by the National Council for Higher Education of Uganda in December 2017. The University is currently enrolling the first cohorts of students in five faculties: Humanities and Social Science, Management Sciences, Computing Sciences, Education and Agriculture, Forestry and Environment.

The volunteer will work in partnership with the Quality Assurance Office of the University to ensure a thorough review of the existing plan, an assessment of best practices in developing an effective strategic plan and implementation strategy, and extensive stakeholder consultations with the faculty, staff, students, and community representatives.
Applicants for the position must have experience in strategic planning at the institutional level; relevant academic qualifications at the masters or doctoral level (Business, Education, Public Administration or a related discipline), and 3 years experience in a managerial position such as Head of Department/Dean/Head of Unit.
