INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON AFRICA (10th Jan to 14th Jan 2011)
"The Jubilee in Marginalised Africa Today"
As communicated earlier in the Conference Call for Papers,
here are some suggested subthemes which will deepen our understanding of the
African situation from being a continent of lamentation and death to a continent of
hope, peace, and renewal, prosperity, development and opportunities.
These are not intended to be specific topics; there are areas that can used to develop topics.
A contributor can choose another area provided it is within the theme of the Conference.

Historical and anthropological aspects
- African Religions: Her true source of existence and survival
- Africa as cradle of humanity and her unique contribution to humanity and the history of salvation as a sure sign of its survival
- Africa’s resilience despite problems
- African Renaissance: A new dynamism for life and survival
- Ubuntu philosophy
Hope for the African Church
- An emerging dynamic and prophetic Church
- Many vocations to religious and priestly life
- Emerging African theologies
- Ecumenical movements
- Contribution of African catholic universities
African Economy and Politics
- Availability of material resources
- Political, economic and social integration: The East African Community, ECOWAS, SADC etc.
- The African Union
- Practically all countries independent except Western Sahara
- Good governance in some countries
- Some countries, like Tanzania, have been spared serious violent conflicts
Conference abstracts
All conference participants who will present papers in the International Conference on Africa, in Kampala-UGANDA should note the following details.
- The abstracts must fully describe the paper as it will be presented in the Conference.
This will help the organisers to up a timetable according the issues addressed by the papers.
- The deadline for submitting the abstracts has been extended to 31 July 2010.
The following should be reflected in the abstracts:
- The purpose of the paper
- Scope of the paper linking with the theme of the Conference
- The definition of concepts
- Approach or methods used
- Conclusions
- Recommendations in view of the general Conference theme
- The abstracts must have a word count between 200 to 300 words
The deadline for submission of papers is November 30, 2010.
The word count for the papers including references and illustrations is not less than 5,000 and not more than 8,000 words.
For those who are traveling by plane you are encouraged to make your reservations well in advance and inform the Conference Secretary.
Visas can be obtained at Entebbe Airport. Details about the amount to be paid will be communicated later.
Submit Abstracts
Those who wish to present papers are kindly asked to
submit their electronic abstracts by 30 July 2010 and their full papers in
digital form by November 30, 2010 to the:
