BACKGROUND

On 17th May 2022, The USJM Patriotism club was launched to Inculcate Norms &Values of patriotism in students & youth in all students. The launching of the USJM patriotism club was intended to nurture new generations of students with positive attitudes to their university, country, to themselves and to work the club aims at encouraging students to become a new breed of enlightened citizens, committed to national service among other objectives.

MISSION

To sensitize values and norms of Patriotism among USJM students in order to develop valuable, responsible, disciplined and loyal citizens to defend and transform Uganda.

VISION

Be the best national student’s forum and Youth initiative that nurtures patriotic citizens in Uganda!

OBJECTIVES.

Create a reasonable percentage of Patriotic Citizens in Uganda. Ensure USJM students engage in nation building activities objectively. Nurture USJM students with sense of nationhood and national unity. To eradicate resistance of national useful programs through sensitization and emphasizing national transformation. To preserve and conserve patriotism values and norms among Uganda’s Youth.

HUMAN RIGHTS CLUB

BACKGROUND

Recalling that our rights as Ugandans and students of University of Saint Joseph Mbarara are still staggering with regard to the respect accorded to them, we establish this constitution   built on principles of Democracy, Freedom and Progress. We as Human Rights Activists are committed to building a better society characterized with rule of law through this durable constitution. The executive is established to represent us and debate the views given to them by University of Saint Joseph Mbarara Human Rights Association (USJMHRA). We as the University of Saint Joseph Mbarara Human Rights Association (USJMHRA) hereby, in and through this Executive solemnly adopt and give to ourselves and posterity, this constitution of   University Of Saint Joseph Mbarara Human Rights Association (USJMHRA)

PURPOSE

To promote the rights and interests of all its members and the entire University of Saint Joseph Mbarara community.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

  • To unite, foster Excellency and cooperation among the university of Saint Joseph Mbarara students and all other citizens of Uganda
  • To affect human rights advocacy in University of Saint Joseph Mbarara and the surrounding community.
  • Empower the spirit of sharing information and opportunities so as to enhance the success of the members.
  • To sensitize students of University of Saint Joseph Mbarara on their rights and freedoms
  • To protect, fight and condemn human rights abuses in University of Saint Joseph Mbarara and the nation at lar
  • In consultation with the administration negotiate with the government or other bodies in matters affecting the students’ body.
  • To train and cultivate worthy qualities among members so as to prepare them for the future service to the community and nation
  • To initiate developmental projects aimed at generating income for the Association.

 MEMBERSHIP

Full Membership

Full membership shall be open to all University of Saint Joseph Mbarara community members upon registration.

Ordinary Membership

Ordinary membership shall be open to all members of University of Saint Joseph Mbarara.

Honorary Membership

Such persons shall be determined only by the General Assembly. They shall be persons who have made
remarkable contribution to the Association financially, materially or otherwise.

Associate members

Shall be all former full members of the association at the expiry of their full membership.

Life Membership

Can only be attained upon registering with the Foundation for Human Rights Initiative and meeting its obligations.

DISQUALIFICATION OF MEMBERSHIP.               

A member of the executive committee may be disqualified by resolution of the General Assembly on any of the following grounds:

  • Poor health or long illness
  • Incompetence
  • Dishonesty
  • Breach of the Association’s code of conduct provided for under Article 14 of this constitution.

OBLIGATIONS OF MEMBERS

  • A member shall accept and promote the spirit and content of the aims and objectives of the association
  • Undertake actively to support its aims and objectives and assist in its activities.
  • Pay appropriate membership fee as per defined category
  • Members are entitled to receive a report on the activities and expenditure of the Association at such intervals as the registered office shall determine in accordance with its means but not less than twice a year.
  • Every voting member shall have one vote. A member may vote in person provided that they have satisfied the requirement with respect to contributions due.
  • Any member that desires to retire shall signify such desire in writing to the secretary/chairperson and thereon his or her name shall be removed from the list of members and he /she shall be deemed to have retired.
