This work is about Dual Career Couples and a result of interactions with males and females working outside the traditional African Family. The Dual Career Couples are a vital resource in the workplace and at home charged with the responsibility of generating productive human resources who are able to uphold or sustain all institutions and organisations as well as the entire society. Despite this enormous role Dual Career Couples are finding it a bit challenging to live what I call a dual lifestyle. In the African Context a Couple is expected to live as one of the folks at home as well as in a large family of in-laws and grandparents. At the same time the work place and economic conditions requires the same couple to be effective employees who can fulfill the requirements of the job so as to provide the family with what it needs. Currently, the African family life is a mixture of lifestyles but expectations still hold in most areas. So, this research endeavoured to listen to the voices of Dual Career Couples by examining the challenges, achievements, and suggesting ways of how society can assist these Couples perform their role as a family and employees of contemporary society. The study also tried to find out whether there could be a successful/happy African family in todays varied circumstances.
