The University Librarian oversees the management and development of the University of Saint Joseph Mbarara's library resources and services. The library serves as the backbone of academic excellence, supporting teaching, learning, research, and innovation for faculty and students.
Our library provides access to a comprehensive collection of educational resources including textbooks, magazines, journals, and digital materials. We are committed to creating a student-centered learning environment that fosters knowledge access and academic success.

Objectives
The objectives of the library procedures are to ensure the equitable and appropriate use of library materials, services and facilities.
- To support all staff members and students in their pursuit of lifelong learning and self-fulfillment.
- To provide friendly and efficient services to all readers.
- To provide reliable information for library users.
- Adopting new technologies.
- To acquire resources and make them available to the readers.
- To expand boundaries of knowledge through research work by teachers and other researchers.

- Book Lending: Access to textbooks, reference materials, and academic resources
- Research Support: Assistance with academic research and information retrieval
- Digital Resources: Access to online journals, databases, and e-books
- Study Spaces: Quiet reading areas and study facilities
- Reference Services: Help with research questions and academic inquiries
- Interlibrary Loans: Access to resources from other institutions
- Information Literacy: Training on research skills and information management

Opening Hours
Monday to Friday: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Weekend (Saturday to Sunday): 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Library Rules
- Members must produce their smart cards (library/identity cards) for entering the library.
- Users must keep their personal belongings outside the library.
- Users are not permitted to bring personal books into the library.
- Members are requested to maintain absolute silence in and around the library.
- Members shall not write upon, damage or mark any book belonging to the library. If found, a fine will be imposed.
- Users are not permitted to alter the arrangements of tables, chairs, etc., made in the library. Keep the library premises tidy.
- The librarian has the right/power to suspend the membership of any member found misbehaving in the library.
- Members caught tearing pages of books/stealing books or any other materials will be suspended forthwith from using the library facilities and the library will recommend further disciplinary action against them.
- Members should return books borrowed from the library before they go for holidays.
- Those who return books after deadline will be fined.
- Books, journals, other documents, library equipment etc. should be handled with care.
- Borrowing shall only be done from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
- Consumption of food and drinks are not permitted in the library.
- Users should not reshelve books after reading; always leave books on the table.
- No answering of phone calls while in the library and phones should always be in silent mode.
- Use the library internet strictly for educational purposes (no YouTube or movies).
- Pornography is strictly prohibited.
