The Vice Chancellor (VC)

Rev. Fr. Dr. Deus Karemire (PhD) is the Vice Chancellor of University of Saint Joseph Mbarara and the Chief Executive of the University. He is appointed by the Board of Trustees of the Archdiocese of Mbarara.

Experience 

Rev. Fr. Dr.  Deus Karemire served as Deputy Director of Uganda Martyrs University – Nyamitanga Campus, a position he held from 2014 to 2018.  Previously he was a Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at Kampala International University-main campus where he was also a member of University senate from 2011–2014.

From 2009 to 2010 he served as an Associate Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at Kampala International University and a member of University senate. 

He was a lecturer at Kampala International University from 2006 to 2014 in the Faculty of Education. 

He also served at Makerere University as a part- time lecturer at the school of Liberal and performing Arts. 

From 2016 to 2020 he was an external Examiner at Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST). 

 

Roles and Responsibilities

1. Be delegated the responsibility of the day-to-day management of the University, its students, staff and programs of the University of Saint Joseph Mbarara.  S/he shall be the primary link between the University and the Council.
   
2. Providing accurate reports regarding the performance of the University against the Strategic Plan and Business Plan
   
3. Providing information with respect to the University that the Council requests
   
4. Ensuring the Council is made aware of the risks or changes to the operating environment that may affect the functioning of the University.
