INTRINSIC MOTIVATION AND CLASS ATTENDANCE IN SELECTED SECONDARY SCHOOLS OF MBARARA CITY SOUTH

The study examined intrinsic motivation and class attendance in selected secondary schools of Mbarara City south. It was guided by the following specific objectives; to assess the factors influencing intrinsic motivation in selected secondary schools of Mbarara city south, to examine the impact of intrinsic motivation on class attendance in selected secondary schools of Mbarara city south, to investigate the relationship between intrinsic motivation and class attendance in selected secondary schools of Mbarara city south. The study employed the cross-sectional design by which data was collected basing on what is going on at the particular point was adopted. The study involved use of qualitative approach. The population of the study was comprised of students only. The sample size was selected using sampling technique, namely simple random. The findings found out the responses regarding different factors influencing intrinsic motivation in selected secondary schools of Mbarara city south and how they affect the students. It further concluded that intrinsic motivation influences class attendance in selected secondary schools of Mbarara city south. It was recommended that intrinsic motivation encourages class attendance. This helps students to achieve high grades and cope with learning challenges
