Abstract:

This study investigated the influence of recreational facilities, class size, and school infrastructure on the academic performance of pupils in social studies at Rwanyamahembe Primary Schools. With objectives focused on examining the impact of recreational facilities, determining the relationship between class size and academic performance, and assessing the effect of school infrastructure, the study used descriptive reseach design. The study sampled 60 participants, including teachers, headteachers, and pupils, utilizing both simple random and purposive sampling methods. Data were collected through questionnaires and interviews, employing a comprehensive data analysis approach that incorporated both qualitative and quantitative methods. The findings underscored the positive impact of recreational facilities, smaller class sizes, and well-maintained school infrastructure on pupils' academic performance in social studies. Recommendations include integrating recreational activities into the curriculum, exploring strategies to optimize class sizes, and conducting regular assessments of school infrastructure. Overall, the study offers valuable insights for educators, administrators, and policymakers, providing recommendations to enhance holistic development and academic performance in social studies at Rwanyamahembe Primary Schools.
