The Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance at the University of Saint Joseph Mbarara is a rigorous undergraduate programme designed to develop competent, ethical, and analytical professionals in the fields of accounting, finance, and financial management. The programme provides a strong foundation in financial and management accounting, auditing, taxation, corporate finance, economics, and quantitative methods.

Students gain both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in areas such as financial reporting, budgeting, financial analysis, cost control, investment appraisal, risk management, public and private sector accounting, and the use of accounting and financial software. Learning is supported through case studies, practical assignments, internships, and a final year project, ensuring graduates are well-prepared for real-world financial and business environments.

Graduates of the programme acquire essential skills in financial analysis, record keeping, auditing, decision-making, research, and ethical financial practice. They are trained to interpret financial information, manage organizational resources effectively, and support sound financial planning and accountability.

Upon completion, graduates are well-prepared for careers in accounting and finance-related fields, including roles such as accountant, finance officer, auditor, tax consultant, financial analyst, credit officer, budgeting officer, procurement and finance officer, and accounting assistant in public institutions, private organizations, financial institutions, NGOs, and international agencies. The programme also provides a strong foundation for professional qualifications and further studies in accounting, finance, and related disciplines.

Applicants must have obtained at least two (2) Principal Passes at Advanced Level (A-Level) and at least five (5) passes at Ordinary Level (O-Level) obtained in one sitting, or their equivalent.
